Jan Desmarets (Ypres, January 21 1961) is a Flemish sculpter. He spent his childhood in Wervik. He studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. Master Jef Vermassen typifies the Flemish sculptor as follows: “He is enthused by the immense power, the intense beauty and sensual agility of certain animals and people. He then uses his own intensive strength of what is in his mind and expresses it by bringing his art creations to life.
